The Golden Lion in the small hamlet of Stonea is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character.
Our picturesque fenland surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales, beers and fine wines gracing our bar.
Or make the best of the British weather by lingering over a relaxing drink in our pretty beer garden.

A Little Pub History
The Golden Lion enjoys beautiful views over rural fenland where on a clear day the eye can see for miles. Close by is the historic Stonea camp a iron age hillfort dating from around 500BC,
it is thought that this was also the site of the battle between the Roman governor Ostorius and  the Iceni in 47AD
The Golden Lion is a friendly country pub built back in 1827,
it is located in the small hamlet of Stonea in the middle of the Cambridgeshire Fens.
The pub also boasts  a restaurant , a campsite for touring caravans and  tents as well as static caravans for rent.
The picturesque Fenland surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on the menu and the carefully nurtured cask ales, beers and fine wines gracing our bar.

The current owners, Andy and Christina have owned the pub since 2010, since arriving they have embraced the spirit of the pub,
becoming a very central part of the local community as well as creating a fantastic menu.
To this day guests find it hard to leave the picturesque location, next to the Sixteen foot waterway.
Originally a simple pub,  it now boasts a fantastic reputation for food and drink, from good wines excellent beers and real ales from both local brewers and further afield,.
Make the best of the British weather by lingering over a relaxing drink in the pretty beer garden.

Friendly and inviting, The Golden Lion is the perfect location for enjoying a relaxed dinner in the restaurant or garden,
having a Sunday roast by the fire in winter whilst soaking up the idyllic atmosphere.

You are welcome to bring your very well-behaved four legged friend to the pub. But please mention this when you book as we want to make sure we can accommodate you. Dogs are only allowed in certain parts of the pub and must always be on the lead.
